Local Young Man Achieves Eagle Scout Award

published by the Stevens Point City Times

Jacob Schulfer, 17, has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the top achievement within the Boy Scouts of America.

Only four percent of boys who enter scouting will make it to Eagle — the process is lengthy and takes years of perseverance, hard work and dedication.

Schulfer has earned 36 merit badges (21 are required for Eagle), four religious awards and has completed an extensive Eagle Scout Service Project, having designed, raised funds for and oversaw construction of a new reflection/prayer garden in Sacred Heart Cemetery. The project took about 18 months to complete.

Schulfer’s scouting career includes four “high adventure” trips, involving three 60-mile canoe trips through the boundary waters of Minnesota/Canada, and a 115 mile hiking trip through the mountains of Philmont, NM.

Schulfer is a member of Stevens Point Troop 298. The Pacelli High School serior is also co-manager of Rolling Hills Driving Range and a machinist at Pointe Precision.

Following high school, he plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
