Portage County Farmers Market

Each year around the holidays, the Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors and staff team put on Thanksgiving feasts at 6 different Club sites across Portage County and serve over 500 local kids and families. The purpose of this event is aligned with the Boys & Girls Club’s mission to, “inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring members of the community.” Board and staff want to be sure every Club family has the opportunity to have at least one bountiful Thanksgiving meal with their family.

At the Thanksgiving feasts, Club kids and their families will have the opportunity to participate in turkey bowling as well as a canvas painting art project. There was be a short program at 5:00p.m. that includes a poem read by a teen as well as a few younger Club members who told the crowd what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving.

The evening was truly a special gathering filled with thankful hearts and a bounty of joy!  Great memories were made last night as they continue their mission to inspire and enable all youth…especially those who need us most, to #OpenDoors to their #GreatFutures!
