GET TO KNOW YOUR PCBC STAFF

How long have you worked at PCBC?

I started at PCBC on February 22, 2016.

Why did you choose to work at PCBC?

I was a Leadership Portage County participant in 2013-14, and really enjoyed the program. While I’m not originally from Stevens Point/Portage County I felt like I quickly enveloped myself in the community and already knew all there is to know. Boy, was I wrong! LPC was a fantastic experience, allowing me to learn things about the County I never knew and hone in on some career-altering leadership skills. I wanted to be able to provide others the same experience, so when I saw this position available I couldn’t let the opportunity pass by.

What do you enjoy about working at PCBC?

I’m fortunate to have worked in some great offices, but this one takes the cake. It’s easy to get up in the morning and work hard throughout the day when you know you have a great team supporting you in everything you do. This group knows how to have fun while getting stuff done! I love the variation in my job duties as well. Through our PIE programs I get to with students and teachers, LPC gives me an opportunity to explore the community and help others grow to love Portage County, and I love the events and activities offered to chamber members and young professionals.

What is one interesting fact about you that most people do not know.

I am still waiting on my acceptance letter to Hogwarts. Seriously. Most people know I am an avid reader (it doesn’t take me long to recommend a book I’ve recently read), but not everyone knows just how much of a nerd I am. The first Harry Potter book was released in 1998, I was 11. A book came out most years thereafter on or days after my summer birthday, and no one would see me for hours as I’d read each new book cover to cover. I grew up with Harry Potter and it solidified a deep love of science fiction novels that has continued with me into adulthood. Last year I went to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios and was the “chosen one” at Ollivander’s Wand Shop. The wand is proudly on display in my living room, thanks to a husband who puts up with a love of all things Harry Potter, Star Wars and more.
